All of us involved in planning the Eighth Annual Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Society Holiday Housewalk wish to extend our appreciation to those who helped make this event a great success: the supporters, the guests, and especially the homeowners. These homeowners spent time planning and decorating, and then opened their homes to hundreds of people to help support our mission of providing medical and dental care to area children. Our heartfelt thanks to Melissa and Paul Wicklow, Mary Jo and Stephen Schuler, Kate and Pete Gancer, Sue and John Gancer, Lynne and Jim Williams, and Cynde and Dale Seegers.
I’d like to personally thank the committee co-chairs, the housecaptains, and the members of Infant Welfare Society circles 2, 4, 7, and 80 who spent countess hours coordinating the details for the housewalk. Special thanks to Alison Nelson and the student musicians who participated in setting the holiday atmosphere at the homes and the check-in, especially the Grace Episcopal Madrigal Choir who braved the cold and made the walk between the homes an extra treat.
We would also like to thank our florists and display vendors, who made this one of the most beautiful walks ever, and our Dine N Share and Shop N Share participants: Camille et Famille, Careful Peach Boutique, Carriage Flower Shop, Creative Memories, Designs of the Interior, Edible Arrangements, Fairy Godmothers, Flavour Cooking School, Florae, Good Earth Greenhouse, Hoy Landscaping, Mixed Company, Rave Wines, Royale Icing, The Irish Shop, Tulipia Floral Design, Two Fish Art Glass, Avenue Ale House, Café Le Coq, Cucina Paradiso, Fuego Loco, Hemmingway’s Bistro, Nola’s Cup, Papaspiros Greek Taverna, and Winberie’s.
Finally, many thanks to our underwriters and other supporters who contributed goods, services, and funds which were essential to the housewalk: Baird & Warner, Community Bank of Oak Park-River Forest, Forest Park National Bank & Trust Co., Gagliardo Realty, Gloor Realty Co., Tony Iwersen – Gagliardo Realty, Park National Bank, F. C. Pilgrim Real Estate, Prudential Premier Realty, LLC – Tom Poulos & Mary Jane Oliver, Kyra Pych – Century 21 Classic Properties, Remax In The Village Realtors, Wednesday Journal, Winberie’s, Caribou Coffee (both Oak Park locations), First United Methodist Church, MAB Advertising Inc. and White Graphics, and Pioneer Press.
The funds that the Holiday Housewalk and other Infant Welfare Society events raise helped us to provide 2,131 children with no/low-cost check-ups, preventive dental care, and sick visits at the Infant Welfare Clinic on Lake Street in Oak Park in 2005. Thanks for helping us to continue to provide these important services.
