Many thanks to Oak Park Police Chief Rick Tanksley for stepping up and advising outlawing the use of cellphones while driving in the village. He above all others recognizes the seriousness of the situation. For too many times that I care to remember I have been close to an intersection collision. The only thing that saved me is my habit of slowing at all intersections even though there is no stop sign in my direction. Too many times drivers coming crosswise are talking on cellphones and fail to obey their stop sign. Many villages, towns and cities have already recognized the danger and have banned the use of cellphones while driving. What is wrong with Oak Park? Are we to be the last to come to our senses? I agree wholeheartedly-ban the use of cellphones while driving in Oak Park.
