Tim Dennehy had his second straight poor start Saturday as he allowed four earned runs in 2/3 of an inning in Chandler-Gilbert’s 7-5 loss at Pima. He gave up three hits and three walks in the outing. By allowing 10 earned runs in his last 3 2/3 innings over two starts, Dennehy’s ERA shot up from 1.93 to 3.44.

Northwestern third baseman Caleb Fields went 5-for-14 with three RBIs in the Wildcats’ four-game series against Penn State over the weekend. Caleb is hitting .307 for the Cats, who are 14-22, 11-5 in the Big Ten.

Double A New Britain’s Justin Olson recorded his first save Friday night with a scoreless ninth in the RockCats’ 1-0 win over Reading. After allowing a leadoff double?#34;only Reading’s second hit of the game?#34;Olson went flyout-strikeout-popout to preserve the win. He is 0-1 with a 4.22 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 10 2/3 innings of work.

Derek Schlecker of Western Michigan remains sidelined with a muscle strain.

Midland designated hitter Vasili Spanos went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a homer, and three RBIs as he led the RockHounds to a 7-2 win over San Antonio on Saturday. Through 15 games, Spanos is leading his team in homers (three) and is second in RBIs (12), runs (14), and slugging (.529).
