I strongly object to the proposed Taylor Park dog facility as illustrated in Wednesday Journal March 15. Such a site would be much too close (20 feet) to the current toddler playground. How do we know how controlled dogs in such a site would be? Also, dogs going in and out of such a facility so close to the toddler site. Children may stray from the playground out of curiosity or whatever. Is that safe? Children in their innocence may be tempted to pet animals going in or out of such a facility. Is that safe?
A much better idea is for Oak Park to bond with River Forest, which is also looking for a dog facility, and investigate a site in the Cook County Forest Preserves that would benefit Oak Park and River Forest dog owners. I believe River Forest has already approached the county about such a facility.
