In the courts
Two 20-year-old Austin men were convicted February 28 of charges stemming from a string of west suburban armed robberies in 2004, including an armed robbery the night of July 17 in the 1100 block of South Harvey.

In that incident an offender pointed a gun at two men and demanded money. One victim gave up $300 in cash, and the second victim a cell phone.

Cedric Moore, of the 5500 block of West Congress Parkway, was sentenced to 15 years in prison on six armed robbery convictions.

Dominic Carter, of the 5500 block of West Gladys, had been convicted in January of possessing a weapon while in Cook County Jail awaiting trial. He received 17 years for his role in four robberies, to be served concurrently with his five-year sentence for the weapon possession.

Moore and Carter were stopped by Cicero police the morning of August 2, 2004. A search of their car turned up a gun matching the one used in the crimes.
