It’s over and out for MGT of America, as the Oak Park Elementary School District 97 Board of Education voted last Wednesday to terminate the consulting firm’s contract.
In a 6-0 vote with one abstention, the board severed its ties with MGT, the consulting firm hired last October to conduct the district’s Strategic Plan.
The board agreed to send out a Request for Proposals from other firms within the next two weeks. The board left open the option of going with another firm or hiring a single consultant. Those firms original vying for the bid late last year will also be allowed to reapply.
The board set a March 1 deadline for responses, and intends to start interviewing applicants by March 15, with work to start by late March or early April. The board agreed to keep the steering committee previously chosen in place.
Board President Carolyn Newberry Schwartz and Dist. 97 Supt. Constance Collins said the district would honor to work of MGT and pay them for services already rendered.
Board member Peter Barber abstained on the vote because he missed a previous meeting to discuss the consultant’s fate.
