Lehman wins speed skating championship

Emery Lehman, a 4th grader at Lincoln School, is the Illinois State Speed Skating Champion for Pony B Boys (ages 8-9 years old). Lehman earned the title by winning all three of his races at Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wis.

Michael Koenig, a 3rd grader at Lincoln School, was the third place winner.

Both Lehman and Koenig speed skate for the Franklin Park Speed Skating Club. Their coach, Tom Healy, was named the 1999 U.S. Olympic Committee Development Coach of the Year.

Windmills to honor coaches

The Oak Park Windmills softball organization will be celebrating its annual Winter Snowball Banquet on Friday, Jan. 27 at Porretta’s in Chicago beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Windmills will be honoring former coaches Mark Mackey, John Rigas, and current Fenwick softball coach Bill Monaco.
