So, how are ya? Got the winter blues yet? We don’t. Know why? Because we made a New Year’s resolution not to.

Sound convincing? Shut up. Sure?#34;we still need to resort to occasional time-honored techniques to buttress our resolve. For instance, Winter Comfort Foods is coming just in time to Cheney Mansion. This is another in the Cheney Cooks series of adult cooking classes, on Monday, Jan. 23, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. (383-0002). We’re not sure what more they can tell us about how we prepare our comfort food: a) get in the car; b) drive to the Jewel; c) purchase Krispy Kreme donuts. But they’ve hired a professional chef to teach us, so we’ll at least pretend we’re listening.

Then we’re sending our children back for the Kids Cook! class on Soups and Stews, Saturday, Jan. 28, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. We forgot to make the resolution where they contribute more to familial well-being. But isn’t there a 30-day grace period for tardy resolutions?

We’ve been getting really aggravated, trying to find enough time to continue binging on escapist movies. Plus we can’t seem to shake that guilty feeling. We’ve decided to legitimize the pastime by taking a class. Bette & Joan: The Dueling Divas of Warner Bros. starts Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Oak Park Art League (386-9853). “Sorry, guys!” we’ll shout, hurriedly hiding our Jewel bag as the family comes in the front door. “You’ll have to make some soup or stew for dinner! We’re doing our homework!”
