Scott Roy Snodgrass, 42
Scott Roy Snodgrass, 42, of Oak Park, formerly of Valparaiso, Ind., died on Jan. 2, 2006 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Gary, Ind. in 1963, he graduated from Valparaiso High School, Manchester College, and DePaul University, where he received an MBA. He was employed by People Soft as a software trainer. Active in sports, he was captain of his high school and college football teams and enjoyed beach volleyball and golf, in addition to being a die-hard Bear and Cub fan.
Scott is survived by his wife, Caryn; his daughters, Rachael (6) and Sarah (2); his parents, Gerry and Roy Snodgrass; his brothers Jeff and Tim (Jennifer); his nephews, Sean and Ethan; his aunts and uncles, Sharon and George Stroguiludis and Bill and Barbra Marley; along with many cousins and friends.
Visitation has held Jan. 6 at Peterson Funeral Home in Chicago. The funeral service took place on Jan. 7 at Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest with interment at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Donations to Grace Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.

Leo Borelli, 88, Crossing guard
Leo F. Borelli, 88, of Simi Valley, Calif., formerly of Oak Park, died on Jan. 6, 2006 at Simi Valley Hospital. He worked as a crossing guard.
Mr. Borelli was the husband of the late Lena Borelli; the son of the late Amerigo and Emma Borelli; the father of Sharon Borelli; the grandfather of David, Steven, and Patrick Luzuriaga; and the great-grandfather of Matthew, Andrew, and Noah.
Visitation was held at Hitzeman Funeral Home in Brookfield on Jan. 12. Funeral services took place there on Jan. 13, officiated by Rev. Roland Bizer, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.

Floyd Covill, 53, Electrician
Floyd Douglas Covill, 53, of Oak Park, formerly of Streator, died on Dec. 31, 2005 in Oak Park. Born on Oct. 31, 1953 in Coronado, Calif., he was the son of Floyd D. and Margaret (nee Armstrong) Covill. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an electrician by trade. He was a member of the Leslie G. Woods American Legion Post 217 in Streator.
Mr. Covill is survived by his daughter, Lisa Marie Marchetti Ehmke; his sisters, Sherry (Roger) Andrew; his longtime companion, Sandra Lambis; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George A. and Ethel Armstrong; his parents; and his sister, Barbara Covill.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Betty Burch, 86, Social worker, child care provider
Elizabeth J. “Betty” Burch (nee Owens) died on December 31, 2005 in Oak Park. Mrs. Burch was born on July 8, 1919 in Downers Grove, to Thomas J. and Georgia (nee Snowden) Owens. During her life-long commitment to civil rights and the labor movement, she met and married William R. “Jack” Burch on Oct. 2, 1949 in Chicago. Through her work, she and Jack became friends with Paul Robeson.
A graduate of Northwestern University, Mrs. Burch was a social worker at Madden Mental Health Center in Maywood for over 13 years until her retirement in 1981. After her retirement, she enriched her life by providing child care for many children in the Oak Park area. She had a love of classical and American folk music.
Betty Burch is survived by her children, Barbara Branch, Janet Burch, and William (Patrice) Burch of Willowbrook; her grandchildren, Elise, Erica, Rebekah and Eli Branch, and Nicole and Taylor Burch; her great-grandchildren, Janae and Jayden Dabney, and Izaiah Ruffin; and her brothers, John (the late Lois) Owens and Phil (the late Sylvia) Owens. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband who passed away on Jan. 16, 1973.
Visitation was held Jan. 6 with at wake service at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home. Interment at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park was private.
Sandra Sabo, 54
Sandra B. Sabo (nee Rosario), 54, of Bloomingdale, formerly of Oak Park, died on Jan. 8, 2006. She was the mother of Deirdre; the daughter of Gwen Rosario and the late Anthony and Bernice Rosario; the sister of Edward Rosario, Dawn Wloch, Thomas (Darlene) Foreit, Joseph (Barbara) Rosario, Mary (Richard) Stevens, John Foreit, Paul (Kathy) Foreit, David (Kim) Rosario, Roseann (Steven) Janusz, Anthony Rosario Jr., Randi (Gary) Holm-Bertelsen, and the late Susan Rosario; and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial visitation was held Jan. 14 at Brust Funeral Home in Carol Stream. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, P.O. Box 8383, Rolling Meadows 60008 are appreciated.
