Bank of America opens OP branch

Bank of America opened a branch at 7123 North Ave. in Oak Park on Monday. Charlotte, N.C.-based Bank of America, one of the nation’s largest, joins about a dozen local and national banks serving Oak Park and River Forest.

Bank of America’s branch replaces a Blockbuster Video store in the strip mall at the southeast corner of Harlem and North avenues. There will be no drive-thru facility, but it will offer two 24-hour ATMs, said Travis Renn, bank center manager.

Bank of America merged with FleetBoston in 2004, which made it the largest consumer bank at the time.
