Max Sakellaris, former captain of the OPRF football team, participated in the Stagg Bowl in Roanoke,Va. Saturday, which was televised by ESPN2.

Sakellaris is a junior offensive tackle for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Whitewater (14-1) met Mount Union of Ohio (14-1) for the National NCAA Division III Championship.

Mount Union College’s football team earned a record eighth Division III National Championship in the last 13 years by defeating Wisconsin-Whitewater by a score of 35-28.

Sakellaris is a two-time first team All-Conference selection and has started every game in his three years at Whitewater.

Football clinic for coaches

Fenwick is hosting the 59th Catholic Metropolitan Conference-Midwest Football Clinic on Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The clinic features some of the best college and prep football experts in the Midwest. The cost will be $30 for a single coach, pre-registered and $50 for two coaches, pre-registered. A coaching staff of three or more from the same school will be $25 per coach (there will be no staff rate). Registration at the Door – $35 per coach.

Soccer training camp

The OPRF Strikers Soccer Club is running ACORN Soccer Training Academy (players with ages U8-U11) on Sundays at OPRF High School starting January 8 through March 19 in the afternoons and evenings. Some spots are still available for afternoon sessions and there are spots open in the newly added evening sessions.
