There was ice cream for the kids, cool cars for the adults, and a movie plus music for everyone at the River Forest Park District’s Antique Car Show and Ice Cream Social, Aug. 5, in Priory Park. Pete Moss and the Organics, fronted by River Forest resident Rick Pickren entertained the crowd, which also enjoyed the classic movie Back to the Future.
Speaking of which, half a dozen vintage autos that have lasted well into their futures were on hand for everyone to ogle. Half a dozen River Forest and Oak Park antique auto owners brought their beautifully preserved and/or restored rides to the Priory parking lot and flipped the hoods up for folks to admire”everything from a classic moss green 1966 Chevy Chevette Stingray to a 1931 Ford Tudor. A 1965 Corvair Monza came with the original sales brochure. “Unsafe at any speed” or not, it still looked like a fun ride on a summer day.
