Trinity Pierce, a graduate of Trinity High School and currently a student at Wheaton College, was selected the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin All-Conference softball team last week. Pierce helped lead the Thunder to a 20-17 record season, with a 5-9 mark and fifth-place finish in the CCIW.
Pierce is one of only two freshmen to earn All-CCIW honors this season. The right fielder hit .343 this season. She led the team with 13 doubles.
Soccer registration
River Forest Youth Soccer, Ltd. is currently accepting registrations for the Fall 2005 soccer season. Registration is open to all children who reside in River Forest or attend school in River Forest. The fall soccer program is open to boys and girls in first through 8th grades, with separate teams for boys and girls. The season runs from late August to the end of October. There are practices or games mid-week and games on Saturday.
The fee is $70 for early registrations received before June 18th, and $100 for registrations received by July 24th. Registration forms are available at the River Forest Public Library, River Forest Community Center, River Forest Park District, or online at www.rfsoccer.org. Baseball camp
Concordia University will host Cougar Kids Summer Baseball Camp on June 20-24. The camp will be held on the baseball and softball fields on campus at 7400 W. Augusta in River Forest.
The camp will be run by Concordia University head baseball coach Spiro Lempesis and his staff. Instruction will be given in the fundamentals of pitching, hitting, fielding, and base running. Games will be played every day except Monday, and parents are invited to watch during the week. Other fun activities are planned including a Slip-n-Slide (for sliding instruction) and daily trivia contests for prizes. Positive attitudes and good play will win awards as well.
Cougar Kids camp is for boys and girls ages 7-14. The price for each kid, which includes lunch in the university’s dining hall, is $150. Campers who bring a friend may register for $130.
