At a public forum to be held on Dec. 7, the community will have an opportunity to weigh in on improvements they would like to see in the Chicago Avenue business district, from Ridgeland Avenue to Austin Boulevard. The meeting will be the first in a series of three, and will start at 7 p.m. at West Suburban Medical Center, 3 Erie Ct.
The planning firm of Solomon Cordwell Buenz has been hired to study the area and is expected to complete a final plan in the spring. The study will focus on making physical improvements to the district, increasing the marketability of the area, creating design guidelines and generating economic development ideas.
Additional meetings are scheduled for Jan. 11 and Feb. 11.
Those who cannot attend the meeting can submit comments via email at ChicagoAvenuePlan@oak-park.us, or by phone at 358-5418. Information about the plan will be posted at the village’s website, www.oak-park.us.
