Pitchfork.com recently published an interview with Tavi Gevinson about music she would listen to in different crucial moments for the column Situation Critical. Elton John, Peggy Lee and Taylor Swift were all on the list for hanging out at the beach with a boombox, getting home from a date and playing DJ at a best friend’s wedding, respectively.

If she was stuck in a Target bathroom with no toilet paper, “Summer Breeze” by Seals and Crofts would be her go to jam.

“[The song] works on two levels, because the song might actually come on in a Target and it’s also just a good song to relax to,” said Gevinson in the interview. “You would just hear it and be like, ‘I’m fine. I’ll get toilet paper. I’ll be OK.'”

Probably more information than you needed to know about Ms. Gevinson.

Final thoughts: I appreciate that she reached back to the 60s and 70s for most of her selections; the next time it snows I will listen to Animal Collective’s “Prospect Hummer”.
