April 21, 2014, Oak Park, IL: Downtown Oak Park selects Chicago artist, Nate Azark to commission three pieces of original art to be reproduced as light pole banners and collateral marketing pieces. Azark was chosen from more than a dozen submissions challenged to “capture the spirit of Downtown Oak Park”.
“I want people to view Oak Park in a way they have not before,” said Azark. “I hope they will see and appreciate the juxtaposition of architectural styles you have here. I would like to ask them to take a second look at places they may pass on a daily basis and take for granted. I hope the pieces promote a sense of pride with the native Oak Park residents and a sense of admiration from the many visitors.”
Azark’s main artistic focus is within the music industry having worked for CBS radio stations WXRT and US99.5, Metro | Chicago, Live on Letterman in New York, and Universal Music in Nashville. He has designed posters for bands including The Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons, Kings of Leon, Andrew Bird, Kacey Musgraves, Blake Shelton, Passion Pit, Depeche Mode, and The National.
