Meet Jill Salzman, The Founding Mom. This past Wednesday night Jill hosted "Style Night" for Chicago area Mom entrepreneurs at Muse in Oak Park.
Jen Haagenson of BlushByJen.com was on hand to do some make up touches for local Mom's and Women in business.
And we got plenty of pointers from two local style experts:
Stylist Suze Solari presented "Color Me Happy: How Color Brings Happiness Into Your Wardrobe."
Stylist Noelle Cellini discussed "The 5 Rules of Style Every Woman Should Know and 5 Rules to Break!"
It was a night filled with wonderful delicious treats, wine and prizes. It was held at Muse, giving owner Heather an opportunity to show off her shop (so to speak). All participants received 15% off their purchases just for coming. And Muse has some seriously adorable items. Stylist Suze Solari had a couple of participants try on some Muse wear and showed how different accessories can add color and excitement to any wardrobe.
I learned a ton from Noelle Cellini who went over some style rules that every woman should know. I'm taking my list of rules with me the next time I go shopping down fashion row in Oak Park. I have to upgrade occasionally from my standard jeans and t-shirt.
When local shop owners support local entrepreneurs – I love it. I LOVE the goodwill that the business owner puts forward. I think goodwill goes a long way to making a community pay attention and love you. I didn't get the chance to talk long with Heather the owner of Muse. I should have said thank you. I'm sure Jill (who is one of the most engaging fantastic women I know) said thank you.
The Founding Moms is a group that Jill Salzman started locally that has expanded to over 25 meetups nationwide. It's a "meetup" for mom's, anyone really, who owns or wants own a business. If you have a creative venture you are starting seriously think about attending one of these sessions held right here in Oak Park , meeting Jill and connecting with local business owners. I often attend myself.
Wednesday night's style night was a fun party and I'm glad I made it. Hosting it at Muse, was a fantastic opportunity to support a local business, and frankly a great opportunity for Muse to support a local entrepreneur. Way to go gals. Ooo – and as I said some of the clothes in these pics are found right on the racks at Muse, 106 N. Marion Street in Oak Park. Did you see those peacock earrings? LOVE THEM.
