With New York, London & Paris Fashion Week in full swing, and a chill in the air, the months of Autumn are upon us. This time of year, with the fashion calendar set to review new trends, we also take stock of what's in our closets, and make lists of what we need -- a foundation of loyal, classic pieces to stand the test of time. I call these 'the top 10': a perfect shift dress, work to eve skirt, tailored button down, sparkled cardigan, the list goes on. Invest a bit more in these basics, and you'll have the power of building many outfits at your finger tips.
I am inspired by the looks & latest trends I found at Sanem's boutique in Oak Park. Ever the pillar of functional style, this shop & its lovely owner have everything you need for the season: novelty denim, faux shearlings, camo - prints, oversize & 60's inspired shapes and floppy hats.
Sanem carefully selects her inventory with a desire to give clients a luxurious, rich look but at the same time, not over the top or too dressy; "making everything wearable and effortless", says Sanem.
Moto rising: put a motorcycle jacket over everything from work trousers to long maxi skirts & evening gowns! There are versions a-plenty of this trend at Sanem's, including the cool denim pants from Sanctuary & Cookie Johnson.
Faux fur and leather details combined with nubby texture on jackets and vests are a must. Find the chic & easy to wear dresses from ASTARS & Joseph Ribkoff - gotta love the mod 60's vibe! Sanem's has jewelry & accessories for layering and updating your wardrobe: I am a bit obsessed w/ the fringe necklaces & earrings.
Fall really is the most fun season for dressing, with luxe layers, yummy knits, cool booties - a perfect time to add a little effortless glamour!
