We had a fantastic time getting to know our local "sweetest" businesses at the Sweets and Snacks Expo this year.

If you haven't met Linda Sahagian from Sahagian Inc you have missed out on meeting a true entrepreneurial business leader in the Oak Park community. Linda is an active member of Rotary and the Madison Street Business Association in Oak Park and she is a candy industry maven to be sure.  The Wednesday Journal covered Linda's Yard of Bubblegum and her induction into the Candy Hall of Fame in 2011. You can find her signature yards of candy at River Forest Chocolates locally.

Another local candy company in attendance was Chocolate Twist of Riverside.  OPRF alum Kate Coffey is the queen behind the brand and the delicious hand crafted caramels, marshmallows and chocolate sauces featured at this year's show.

And of course, not to be forgotten, is River Forest Chocolates.  Donna Slepicka, owner, attended this year's show to scope out new fantastic offerings for her custom candy shop on the corner of Lathrop and Lake in River Forest. Donna, a chocolate artisan herself, likes to keep the store stocked with novelty items for quick grab and go treats or items that pair perfectly with her clever chocolates to make the perfect gift.

Curious about other local candy companies?

Check out Ferrara Pan and their factory shop on Garfield in Forest Park.

La Maison de BonBon has imported chocolate and treats in Forest Park.

Aunt Diana's in Riverside offers old fashioned fresh fudge daily.

And while not the last of the candy offerings, but not to be forgotten

Old Fashioned Candies in Berwyn is a great spot to keep on your list as well.

Hope you have a great time, creating your own candy expo, while visiting our local shops and candy artists.
