I have my Father's Day gifting complete! For sure I have amazed myself too. I still have some fun suggestions in photos though - so don't stop looking just because I am done shopping.
BUT I still have to get my act together for the party. We always throw a party in my house. And I'm working on those party plans - or at least planning to PLAN.
Let me lay it all out for you:
My husband is slowly becoming an artisan home beer brewer geek. I have gotten off pretty easy for our last gifted holidays: Wooden Barrel for Christmas (had to be ordered on line - if someone has a local source - I'd love to hear it), Brewing Gift Certificates for his birthday. And if he is reading this blog entry he better stop because I'm about to spoil his surprise for this weekend. For Father's Day the kids and I got him the Root Beer brewing kit from Green Home Experts. Seemed like an appropriate funny choice for a Dad to be able to brew with this kids. We got the plastic bottles that are available at GHE too; also an appropriate choice if he wants to include our 3 year old in on the fun.
(Again spoiler alert Dad if you are reading)
My gourmet artist biker gardner Dad is NOT at all easy. It's a good list of interests, but he's not easy to read. I double dipped my shopping and purchased a Bay Laurel tree from Green Home Experts. My Dad loves fish, often uses bay leaves and he's a fantastic gardener. Typically we get my Dad something for the garden the way folks joke about getting their Fathers' ties. I may have given him a tie once or twice, but pretty much Dad get's gardening gear, a decorative piece for the garden, this year a bay laurel. (Last year it was a gift certificate to Barnards to stock up on bike equip so I'm not a complete broken record)
3. THE PARTY
I've prepared nothing. I haven't talked to my mother about it. We have no plans for this year YET. But there is for sure still time for last minute. I am so extremely thankful to Whole Foods for hosting their first Friday's Al Fresco event just a couple of days before Father's Day. I can get some fun new recipe ideas for outdoor cooking. I can do my shopping. I can taste test. I'm pretty much going to start and stop my party meal planning & shopping all on Friday evening. Maybe - just maybe I can find something that calls for bay leaves, fish and would go well with a fun craft brew or two.
Here are the details for Friday. See you there. Oh and they have some give aways if you are joining the fun on twitter. Use #FridaysAlFresco to get in on the contest.
