Today's Fabulous Find takes us to cobblestone-covered Marion Street in Oak Park.

Shoe Soko (111 N. Marion St.) offers jewelry, hosiery, outdoor-wear (including some fun and funky custom-made gloves), and more.

This spring, Show Soko's proprietress, the multi-talented Takara has amassed an amazing collection of stylish and head-turning shoes.

The perforated leather of these crimson wedges reminds me of my first car. Most of my friends remember the vintage automobile for its whirring acoustics and rear-mounted engine, but I distinctly remember the high rounded roof teeming with tiny, perpetual pin dots – I loved that car and I love perforated leather!

It used to take a while for my 1974 VW Beatle to come up to speed on the highway, so I’d ride along the shoulder until I could merge safely into traffic. Families and children driving by would wave frantically, smiles splitting their faces in half. I’m pretty sure they thought I had escaped from the circus in a clown car.

She was a head-turner all right, but not for the same reasons these mod wedges will be turning heads.

Let's find out more about today's hip pick:

With an impressively walkable sole wrapped with cork and perforated leather, and a strappy red upper boasting bold brass hardware, these sensational shoes certainly are hard to ignore. Of course, there’s an astounding assemblage of garments you can pair them with - a flirty gingham dress, cropped cotton jacket, and clamshell clutch – they’ll definitely be doing their fair share of attention grabbing!

Stop by next Friday for another Fabulous Fashion Find from our local, independent retailers or for Style Inspiration from friends and neighbors!

I’ll see you around town and in the shops!

Cute shoes! Never been to this shop, but I'll try it since I live so close.
