It’s Monday, when we bring you all things green at the Shopping Blog. Today, moms can discover an inexpensive way to shop for new and gently-used children’s apparel and baby gear right here in town!
My friend, Heather, has four sons, all under the age of ten. Hers is an animated household, forever bustling. And she is an amazing woman, handling her hectic hearth with grace and unfaltering love. (This is the stuff superheroes are made of!)
It’s a joy and a blessing to have four healthy and cute-as- a-button boys, and it’s also expensive.
When children are not filling out their petite frames with supersonic speed, they’re dwarfing their clothes at an accelerated rate – spilling out of clothes that seemed to fit just yesterday.
I happened upon a boutique in Oak Park, O Joy! Kids Consignment (823 S. Oak Park Ave.) and it stopped me in my tracks. A children’s resale shop right here in my own backyard: what a delight!
O Joy! Kids Consignment boutique partners with customers and the community to sell high quality resale merchandise for boys and girls – and their parents. They offer clothing, shoes, toys, strollers, furniture, maternity and more.
In addition to clothes, you can find jogging strollers, pack and plays, Bumbo seats, outdoor play equipment, puzzles, toys and books. And the staff is really friendly, too!
I look forward to O Joy!’s regular sales in which they mark down their merchandise from 25% to 50% off the ticketed price.
The shop also organizes fun events such as an annual Book Exchange. (For event info, find Oh Joy! on Facebook.) Books not selected during the exchange are donated to an Oak Park charity (depending on the age of the book and the demand, O Joy! works with Sarah's Inn, West Suburban Pads, and New Moms).
