Last week I wrote about a pregnant woman’s daily search for something to wear each day, that is comfortable and makes her feel pretty. Organizing your closet for 10 months of a changing maternity wardrobe, and postpartum pieces is key to making this special time more manageable.

Majamas boutique in Oak Park is just the place to find such key pieces. Germaine Caprio started her maternity fashion line 15 years ago with the first ever maternity tank top.  A wholesale and retail operation, she has built her brands to include pre & post -natal, post surgery, yoga wear: comfortable, chic clothes that move with you & grow with you.

These gorgeous garments are cut from organic stretchy fabric, milled in California, sewn here in the Chicago.

Socially conscience garments are becoming main stream: Majamas uses Promodal fabric, from Eucalyptus trees. It's made in Germany, using a closed loop processes: recycling the water used to soften the fiber.

“This cuts down greatly on polluting our oceans and Earth. The water used to soften Bamboo, for example is dumped into the oceans creating unnecessary pollution and wreaking havoc on the ecosystem” says Germaine.

Check out these great Eco chic options for Spring: coral ‘Nikilu’ beach tunic, $66 will become your go-to favorite, in the hottest color of the season. The batwing sleeve is very current, & the fit is flattering to all body types. Pair it with ‘Eliseo’ cropped skinny jeans, $68 and a wedge sandal for a lunch date, or family picnic.

This Josie t-shirt is a must have basic, $55.

I adore the amazing print in the ‘Add -a -gown’ dress, a steal at $48 - you will wear it all summer.  The ‘Eliseo’ tank is great for yoga, it has a cute floral print with a zebra lining; would be great under a blazer for a date, or drinks with girlfriends  .. or wear it to bed, like I do!

You can do good by visiting her shop, which carries other brands besides her own, as well a selection of children’s clothing and toys. Mention this Blog when you go, and receive a 15% discount on your purchase!

Wrapping up this Maternity Blog, I have found a great product for Moms: Julie Menonni, a River Forest Mother of four has created a new plush toy / breastfeeding support pillow called ‘My feeding Friend’.  The pillow is the perfect size for helping new Mothers navigate the world of nursing with their babies.  There are 4 animals to choose from making its easy to coordinate with the nursery decor, $35.  Check them out: www.myfeedingfriend.com
