While out and about town, my fashion radar zeroed in on one cool, quirky outfit. Find out how Jenny Hines's great grandmother inspired her prim yet provocative look.

Jenny Hines style meets at the intersection of demure and whimsical. What I love most about her ensemble is that it oozes creativity and is a fiercely independent look. If I scoured the streets from L.A. to New York, I am most certain that I would not happen upon another wearing such an enlightened ensemble.

Favorite Fashion Era: Any that's not current. The fashion of the thirties was imbued with a sophisticated sexiness. Women wore modest, yet sensual clothing.

Fashion Inspiration: My great grandmother. Although I never got to know her, we have a similar sense of style. I inherited this innate sense of style [that is akin to hers]. (She must have been one cool granny.)

Favorite Local Shops: Thrift shops! The Brown Elephant [in Oak Park] is a favorite.

Fashion Indulgence: I'll splurge on shoes.

One Item Every Woman Should Own: A black turtleneck.

I love Jenny's fabulous, full skirt and would pair it with a crisp, white button-down blouse and gladiator sandals to make it my own. I might add a wide cognac-colored belt and silver hoops for a sprinkling of gypsy.

Which of Jenny's pieces speaks to your fashion aesthetic? Tell us how you would make this outfit your own.

Truth - it's all about confidence. She looks fabulous and she knows it!

@Christina: Nicely stated. People who try to dress exactly like their neighbors may give comfort to Oh please, but that is a dreary way to go through life.

@Oh please: No need for mean-spirited comments. What I love about Jenny is that she wears this outfit with confidence and she's not trying to be anyone but herself. I love out-of-the-box fashion. :) After all, the world would be awfully bland if we didn't choose to express ourselves creatively. If there is one piece you might take (like her simple black turtleneck) and make your own, I'd love to hear how you'd wear it.

This poor woman looks like a clown in that get-up. Are you trying to embarrass her?
