What is your favorite part of the Academy Awards?  Staying vigil to hear ‘best actress/actor/film’; watching the best dressed red carpet arrivals?  I love to attend a glamorous Oscars party, another fun excuse to break out the sequins!  Whether the function is a cocktail - attire soiree, or a casual fete - here are a few Style tips to help you show up the Belle of the Oscar Ball.

For show stopper dresses head on over to Trends Resale boutique, where there are many a floor length gown, like the stunning black Ellie Tahari, $31.99; and a nod to old Hollywood glamour, a Sonia Rykiel floral gown, $38.99.  Last night I had the privilege of ‘walking the red carpet’ at Trends & Divine Consign Oscars party & screening of short film 'The White Box' by local film maker Michael Bassett. Full glitteralia was on display, as well as a bit of shopping.  Don’t miss the Spring Debut, next Wed. Feb 29th: over 3,000 new pieces - doors open at 11:00am.

If a beaded gown is not your thing, and a casual night IN is - stop into Sanems, 134 N. Oak Park Blvd. for cute and comfy glammy outfits: beautiful 213 feather blush top with studded sleeves, pairs nicely with grey jeans, for $88.  Classic black is a no-brainer in this subtle, sparkling Julian Chang top with built in diamonte belt, $118.

Don’t forget your ‘Oprah- Oscar earrings’ as Takara calls them: drop dead pretty, colorful pear shape drop earrings, $38.00 - Takara, 123 Marion Street.

Must prepare those tootsies for strap-y sandals: I stopped into a cute little nail shop, off Madison Street in Forest Park called First Nails.  Here, the owner Stephen, a lovely man from Vietnam, worked over my weary feet after a spa soaking, and massage...this is not your average chop shop!  The salon is pristine, and chocked full of the latest & trendiest nail polishes; the best $20 pedicure, that lasts & lasts!

Put your tresses in the capable hands of Team Blonde hair salon in Forest Park.  For a professional make-up session, check out Jen Haagenson’s brand new 1148 make-up boutique, at the back of Muse in Oak Park for an Oscar worthy face: jen@1148cosmetics.com

Whatever you have planned for Sunday night, its my goal to ensure that you receive the ‘Best Dressed’ award; and have fun in the preparations!

I love the Oscars - watching the stars on the red carpet is the best part. We can all look that glamourous with a little extra effort - you don't have to spend a fortune. Thanks for these style tips!
