Can you believe it’s almost time to start stocking our closets for spring? Yippee! Alas, until then, I am scoping out those perfect transitional pieces we can wear now and later when those temps finally start to rise.
Think layer-y sleeveless dresses, walking shorts w/ tights, and blazers! Where might you find such a fine stash of versatile fashions? Why, Ananas of course. This Oak Park staple (going on 20 years now) has become one of my fave go-to boutiques, featuring a super-curated collection from dozens of coveted designers.
A nod to the Bohemian, Ananas approach is driven by the personality of it’s loyal clients, of a wide age range. What I appreciate is the quality of each item. You know the saying: “you get what you pay for” and it’s true here, if you invest a few extra bucks in higher quality, organic fabrics, that are domestically produced; you will have garments that will last you a lifetime.
My first look for pre-Spring starts with a vibrant coral tunic, with a 3/4 sleeve from ‘Bobi’ $109. Toss on a most luxurious loose - knit linen blend cardi, from ‘Skip’ that picks up the coral in its multi-color threads, to ward off a chill. What could be more of the moment, than pairing tribal accents in these cool mules and handbags from ‘Wabags & Washoes’, handmade accessories utilizing vintage Asian textiles - these are clothes you can run around all day in - look & feel amazing in them right now, and later in the year.
Next up: a cozy maxi dress in knit jersey from ‘Green Dragon, $142. This tank top style dress is an eye catcher in a series of punchy blue & white nautical stripes (another trend for Spring). Slather on a cropped cotton ‘Bobi’ cardigan, for $86, and you are nearly dressed. To complete the ensemble, I choose an exquisite faceted agate beaded necklace with hand forged charms, from ‘Love Heals’. This inspired Californian jewelry company produces ethically sourced materials, made with an old world quality, tying charity to the sale of each piece. Add the texture & color of a soft camel, salvaged leather mini handbag, with a delicate gold chain, $78. I love the contrast here, a perfect mix.
There are so many covetable pieces on hand at Ananas, I get easily distracted...and their Spring inventory is only just starting to come in. Whether you are catching a flight to soak up some sun, or staying in cooler climates, this lovely local boutique, and it’s relaxed and helpful staff have you covered! Try out a few of the seasons colors and prints and create your own unique spin on getting dressed.
