As you page through this year's Holiday Gift Guide, there's more here than meets the eye.
In addition to festive ads and clever gift ideas, you are experiencing the magical spirit of shopping local.
The businesses who advertise and provide featured products are special. By advertising, they support this Gift Guide, each other, and all of us in a larger effort— keeping our communities commercially strong and vibrant. In appreciation, we ask that during this holiday season—and all year long—you visit them and spend your dollars close to home. And, as long as you're there, it wouldn't hurt to mention that you stopped by because you saw them in this guide. We are a small, local business ourselves, after all.
To sweeten the deal, if you send us an email telling us about a recent shopping experience prompted by this guide, we'll enter your name into a raffle for a $75 gift certificate.
Browsing can really pay off!

And thanks to Rosie, OakPark.com editor, who put in lots of hours to make sure we could share this whole section on-line today.

A lot of group effort goes into producing a section like this. 36 pages of gifts and advertisers means our in house design teams work around the clock to make sure it all looks wonderful. Yes that's right this is community journalism and our design team works right down the hall from all of us. (not miles and miles away) Elisha-Rio Apilado did all of the design lay out with a bunch of help to get the products "cut out" to look beautiful on the page.
