Three Queens and Oak Park young artists

Sarah loves it when businesses support artists, even ones just starting to come into their own.

Three Queens Organic sells maple syrup. It sounds simple: local family owns a farm, makes maple syrup, hires local artist for fantastic labels.  A jar of this should be in everyone's stocking this year. It's a gorgeous, delicious, organic, locally supportive gift.

And as a business, they could probably stop right there - market the heck out of their maple syrup and start an on-line mega successful conglomerate of tasty organic foodie small local wonderful items. But they didn't.  Three Queens uses a portion of their profit to support our arts community. In addition, by choosing a location right on Harrison St in the Oak Park Arts District, they double as an art gallery.

Frequently, Three Queens hosts art openings for local artists.  They did recently for 17 year old, Ivan Gugel -Dawson.  On a wintry Friday evening from 7-10pm, with music and apertifs, Gugel-Dawson had a platform to discuss his approach to his medium. Friends and community members came out to support the launch of this new on the scene artist.  He's 17, a pretty critical age to feel success, drive forward and continue on a particular path.

I wish him the best. Thanks to my coworker Lourdes who was able to get out and take some photos for me. And thanks to Three Queens for opening their store,  and being supportive in action and in dollars.

I mail-ordered Three Queens to far-away family and we gave some bottles to visiting family. Then other family members tried it...and now they're ordering from Three Queens. This is exceptional maple syrup.
