This week’s Style Inspiration is Pam Dombrowski of River Forest. Pam is a renaissance woman. She is a wife and mother, Auxiliary Board member at Hephzibah Children’s Association in Oak Park, and an entrepreneur with a flourishing business, EDIT Home.
Pam was out and about shopping at Muse when I noticed her vintage inspired shirtdress with its bold print and punchy colors, cinched with a skinny belt, and paired with boot cut jeans. Pam, in her jaunty ensemble, combined with her natural beauty, looked like she could have stepped out of a fashion-forward feature film from the sixties. What I loved most about her outfit was that it could be dressed up with pumps and the perfect accessories or it could be dressed down with leggings and flats.
Let’s find out what Pam has to say about holding back when you’ve just run into the belt of your dreams. (A little hint: Pam lives her life with no fashion regrets!)

Your fashion style: Eclectic, Understated, Comfortable (with touches of vintage)
My favorite fashion era: It's hard to choose just one. I like the 1920’s. It was a time of change, and I like what happened with fashion as we transitioned from much more formal styles to cleaner lines and more comfortable clothing. [The clothing] was still fussier than apparel today but I loved the delicate romantic cottons with the understated but high style pants. I also loved the hats of that period. High style yet simple.
Fashion inspiration: Coco Chanel. I love her [original] lines of clothing. She forged the way for those of us who prefer clean lines and comfort.
Favorite local boutiques: Muse in Oak Park and M. Santana in Forest Park [for apparel], Gem [for jewelry], Sugarcup Trading [for childrens' clothes], and Shoe Soko in Oak Park - I love their shoes: they remind me of the story of the Shoemaker and the Elves. Each shoe is unique and made with care. Or so it appears to me!
Greatest fashion indulgence: I love belts. Everyone should have an amazing belt(s). Especially with all the low jeans. Belts show!
Fashion advice: Everyone should buy furniture and apparel with impulse and spontaneity (coats and couches, dresses and dressers). If you love a piece buy it. Especially if the price is right! Wear clothes that fit you just right: not too big and not too small. You look your best no matter what your size if clothing fits you just right. Have one piece that is a stand out! It could be a scarf or belt.
Stop back next Wednesday for our Meeting of a Great Mind blog post to learn about Pam’s talent as a designer and her purposeful furniture pieces.
