Yesterday, I had an opportunity to stop by Two Fish Art Glass to check out their Begin Stained Glass class. Not that I had major preconceived notions before heading over, but I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it actually was. There truly is an art to cutting glass, but co-owner and class teacher, Cecilia Hardacker, makes it fun and easy.
After sitting through the first class I learned a few things: there is a therepudic quality to cutting glass; using a soddering iron is much more fun than I expected; wear your stylish safety goggles; and I have to make it a point to coming back to take the full course.
The Begin Stained Glass class is $204 (which includes the class and tool kit) and allows for you to not only learn how to cut glass and sodder lead, you'll also walk away with your own piece of art. Class sizes are kept to a small amount (six total), which makes for a lot of one-on-one attention. The next classes don't start until January, but that doesn't mean you can't start researching your final project's pattern idea. Or ask your honey to sign you up as a present.
