I surrender.

@ Debbie, What is with this fear thing where people using usernames are afraid? I actually think it's wise to avoid using your legal name on an OPINION BASED COMMENT BOARD that anybody can read and misuse. Being judged for a few sentences here and there and random comments is for celebrities and politicians, not us regular people. Then again, we've never heard of someone making a mistake in what they write or post on the internet and it coming back to haunt them have we?

Eilene - it IS that darn big dumb football game and dance! Just because we call it Homecoming doesn't mean its anything more that a football game and a dance.

Silly...but tradition. Otherwise they'd just call it "That Darn Big Football Game and Dance." Homecoming is about HOMECOMING...even though OPRF has scaled down the alumni events over the years. Face it...LOTS of things in life are silly...and fun. Let the kids who are interested have fun with it. After 20 years as an alumni...I LIKE seeing what the queen is wearing. (And I was never interested in it when I was a student.)

Dear "someone" and "bitter": why are you afraid to use your names? And to "someone": I can't believe that you think that every girl looks forward to being homecoming queen. I know many high school girls who think it's a silly idea.

Um...maybe because Homecoming is all about current students networking with alumni? And since the Homecoming Dance has been a part of that tradition...it would kind of go against the whole idea of "Homecoming" to get rid of it. I think the 2011 queen looks fabulous...tasteful...and elegant.

@Debbie we are still crowning queens because it is something every girl looks forward to their entire life! Like a mini prom.

.@Debbie:..says the angry woman who was never elected homecoming queen and is still pissed off about it years later...

Why are we still crowning homecoming queens? It's a stupid idea whose time has long passed.
