The Village of Oak Park posted a draft report on its Facebook page detailing plans to deal with various potential disasters within the village.

The 183-page report titled "Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan" covers everything from storms, to power outages, to cyber attacks against the village's computer system. The report also offers an assessment of the risk various disasters pose – based on the likelihood of the disaster occurring and the impact it would have on the village.

Sections of the report, such as the "Hazard Vulnerability Analysis" chart, don't mince words about the type of disasters the village is considering, including explosive attacks, nuclear detonations and chemical attacks. That chart also includes a column titled "Percentage of population likely to be injured or killed under an average occurrence of the hazard."

Wednesday Journal will have more details on the report as they become available.

Oak Park, and all cities have always had what to do if what happens. This new idea is nothing new except adding in an attack to a computer. No town should rely 100 percent on any computer. In disasters of any kind, it will always come to people helping people and directions given over a radio with a temporary headquarters set up to monitor and direct efforts. So boys and girls, put away your text phones and facebooks if there is a disaster. This is just another opportunity to spend more money.
