River Forest resident takes reins at San Miguel middle school

Phil Jiménez has taken over as president and CEO of San Miguel Chicago. The donor-funded middle school, located behind the historic Chicago Stockyards in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, serves Latino students on Chicago's South Side. Students are accepted based on academic and financial need. Eighth-grade graduation, in fact, is July 12. Jimenez and his wife Beatriz live in River Forest.

He joined San Miguel as vice president for advancement in 2010, overseeing fundraising, regulatory compliance, marketing and community relations. Prior to joining San Miguel, he served as director of advancement of Lutheran Child & Family Services in River Forest.
