Construction on Harlem Avenue is set to move north of Interstate 290 in Oak Park Thursday.

Motorists should expect lane closures and delays until after July 4.

Crews will be grinding pavement and the road will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Drivers are encouraged to find alternative routes as the construction is expected to cause delays.

Other construction going on the village includes to alley program, which was recently bid out for and approved by the village board. Other water, sewer, street reconstruction and resurfacing projects are also underway.

The village is expected to have around $10 million worth of reconstruction projects scheduled in 2012, but much of that is federally funded, according to Village Engineer Jim Budrick.
