We’ll throw you a crumb, let you try to munch on it a bit. No pressure. You have some time. Nibble. Enjoy the process. Don’t let your brain cramp up. Don’t lose sleep over it.
We are in the process of gathering candidates for the Top 10 high school sports athletes of the decade in Oak Park and River Forest that we will announce in a story this summer. It’s not easy looking back on 10 school years and zeroing in on some of the individual athletic accomplishments at the high school level. We could use your help.
Below is only a brief four possible candidates — we have quite a list to whittle down. This is just a nibble. Add to it, and/or give us some feedback.
OPRF softball pitcher Kerry Hayes, 1999-2002, went 58-12, tossed 522 innings and struck out 783.
Fenwick girls basketball player Tricia Liston, 2006-2010, averaged 28.8 points and 6.5 rebounds her senior season as she led the Friars to third place in the Class 4A State Tournament.
OPRF boys volleyball player Sean O’Malley, 2001-2005, led the Huskies to third place at state his senior season. Currently holds the most kills in a career with 1,457 and is second on most kills in a season with 619.
OPRF boys basketball player Iman Shumpert, 2004-2008, averaged 15.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists his senior year while leading Huskies to 24-6 record.
There are more and more and more ….
