It's early in the season but kudos to the Oak Park and River Forest High School softball team. Head coach Mel Kolbusz has the Huskies off to solid 5-2 start. OPRF routed Wheaton South 12-2 in five innings on Wendesday (Apr. 9).
Emma Baldwin (3-1) earned the win by scattering four hits and striking out eight. Sam Linde (3-for-4, RBI, two runs), Libby Foster (2-for-3, RBI), Elaine Warner (2-for-3, RBI, run) and Annelise Ryan (1-for-3, RBI) paced the Huskies on offense.
The Huskies' offense has been formidable and Baldwin leads a talented pitching staff. Here's hoping OPRF contends in the West Suburban Conference Silver Division title and, even more importantly, a significant run in the state playoffs.
