Each of the three District 90 schools has received an academic excellence award for 2011 from the Illinois State Board of Education, according to a statement from the school district Wednesday.
This is the fourth year in a row that Lincoln and Willard elementary schools and Roosevelt Middle School have earned the award. Schools that receive it must have made Adequate Yearly Progress in 2010 and 2011 as required by No Child Left Behind. In schools serving grades eight and below, 90 percent of students must have met or exceeded state standards in both reading and math for the three most recent school years.
Just over 10 percent of the state’s 438 public schools received the award for 2011, the statement said.
