The Park District of Oak Park will hold a public meeting Feb. 9 for residents interested in the progress of the Ridgeland Common renovation project.

Architects from Nagle Hartray will present an update that will include a look at a possible building exterior. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Oak Park Conservatory, 615 Garfield St.

Planned improvements for the $23.5 million project include installation of new plumbing and electricity, new offices, lockers and activity rooms and an expansion of the ice rink.

It would be a shame to go to all of this expansion and not have the Ice Rink available for year round use. Currently as a hockey parent and coach we have to move the program to Franklin Park. Why not capture those funds for the park district and expand the program. It helps both the hockey program and the income to the Park District.
