Is there a pile of packaging foam sitting around in your living room following Christmas? Don't throw it out!
The Oak Park Art League is collecting leftovers, with plans to create a "winter sculpture garden" in front of their facility at 720 Chicago Ave. Any pieces of foam with the #6 symbol can be dropped off at the Art League from 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
The league asks that packaging foam be placed in clear, sealed bags and scrubbed if it once contained food. No straws or lids, packaging peanuts or foam insulation. If you have questions, call 708-386-9853.
Some of the sculpture garden has already started to go up along Chicago Avenue. They eventually plan to take it down and donate it to the closest foam recycling site, according to a press release.
