OPRF student-athlete Mike Bower was the recipient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Senior Excellence Award.

The award was created to allow NSCAA member coaches at the high school level to recognize exceptional contributions made by a senior student-athlete in their program.

Bower was a midfielder for the OPRF soccer team in the fall. He finished his high school career with eight assists and three goals, while helping lead the Huskies to a 20-4-1 record.

“So many kids want all the glory; they want to be the one who scores the goals, take the unbelievable-unrealistic shot, and make the scene after a goal. Not Bower,” said OPRF boys head soccer coach Paul Wright. “He simply wants the team to win and stay focused. He played nearly every minute of every game this season. He put the team first; he was an integral part that created something special. His solid work ethic on and off the pitch, and passion for this program earned him this award.”
