OPRF High School student-athlete Sam Brooks has made a verbal commitment to the University of Iowa.

Brooks won a Class 3A State Wrestling title his sophomore year and finished runner-up last year. The OPRF senior was being coveted by such high-profile colleges as Minnesota, Illinois, Oklahoma and Missouri as well as Iowa.

Brooks will enter the winter season with a high school career record of 106-19. In August, he won a bronze medal at the FILA Cadet World Championships in Hungary.

Brooks is a GREAT Kid! Kudos to Sam and his family. He is a hard working student and a great role model. Another example of the type of great young men developed in Mike Powell's Wrestling Program. Go Huskies!
