River Forest’s own sandwich king, Jeff Mauro, will be preparing some of his favorite dishes for attendees to taste during an upcoming fundraiser for Concordia University.
Mauro, a graduate of Oak Park and River Forest High School, will host a live cooking demonstration at the “Concordia Gets Cookin’” event at 7 p.m. March 3. Hosted by Concordia University’s Foundation Board, proceeds will benefit the school’s endowment for financial aid.
Mauro was named the next Food Network Star in August. The second season of his show, “Sandwich King,” will air Feb. 19 at 10 a.m., according to Food Network's website.
The demonstration will be held at the Bisazza Kitchen on the campus of Kendall College, 900 N. Branch St., in Chicago. Limited tickets are available for $225, which includes cocktails, Mauro’s demonstration, dinner, a silent auction, and a tax-deductible gift. Tickets must be purchased by Feb. 7 and are available at www.CUChicago.edu/cooking.
