Robert W. Lundy, 70, a longtime Oak Park and River Forest resident, died on Aug. 21, 2013 at his River Forest home. Born in Chicago on April 15, 1943 to Francis L. and Alice W. Lundy, he attended the Wilmette Public Schools, New Trier High School, Blackburn College in Carlinville, and the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.
Gregory Brickhouse, 53, of Oak Park, formerly of Freeport and Chicago, died at his home on Aug. 18, 2013. Born in Chicago on Feb. 22, 1960 to the late James and Lucille Brickhouse, he graduated from Chicago's Marshall High School and attended Malcolm X College, also in Chicago.
Clarence P. Schoepf, 85, died on Aug. 12, 2013. Born in Chicago on Jan. 25, 1928, he served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Mr. Schoepf is survived by his children, Ken (Ellen), Robert (Ramona), and Carole (Larry) Murphy; his grandchildren, Nick (Bridget), Kim (Mike) Curle, Kristina, Jon, Robin, Meagan Murphy and Laura Murphy; and his great-grandchildren Collin and Vivian. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, siblings, and his dear friend and companion, Lucy Kujawa.
Barbara Mertz, 85, known as Barbara Michaels and Elizabeth Peters to the readers of more than 70 mystery novels and romantic thrillers with a historical twist, died on Aug. 8, 2013 at her home in Frederick, Md.
Robert Glenn Simpson, 89, of Grand Rapids, Mich., formerly of Oak Park, died on Aug. 4, 2013. Born on the South Side of Chicago on May 6, 1924, he attended St. Ignatius High School, then was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the 45th Division, 157th Regiment, 1st Battalion, Company A. The 45th saw 540 days of frontline combat, more than any other division during World War II.
