Patricia Marie Thornton (nee Mooney), 87, a resident of Oak Park for over 60 years, died on Jan. 26, 2011. A quiet, thoughtful woman who loved to read and enjoyed a good political discussion, she was never the life of the party, but presided over many.
Audrey Zoloto (nee Ames), 70, died on Jan. 20, 2011 at home in River Forest. Born on April 7, 1940, the youngest daughter of David and Frances Ames, she enjoyed a quintessentially American childhood on Chicago's Northwest Side.
Arthur Stanley Martin, 92, formerly of River Forest, died on Jan. 6, 2011 in Edina, Minn. Born on July 25, 1918, in Evanston to Stanley Martin and Grace Griffin Martin, he attended Oak Park and River Forest High School, Yale University and the University of Chicago.
Jeannine L. DeRose Ihrig, Ph.D., 71, died on Jan. 21, 2011. Born in Chicago on Nov. 5, 1939, she was a lifelong resident of Oak Park and River Forest. All who knew her well remember these times with affection and mourn her passing after a prolonged illness.
Patrick James Callahan, 63, of La Grange, formerly of Oak Park, died on Jan. 18, 2011. Born on St. Patrick's Day, 1947, he was an attorney, a U.S. Army veteran who graduated from Ascension School, Fenwick High School, Loyola University and DePaul University School of Law.
William H. Shafer, 89, of River Forest, formerly of Oak Park, died on Jan. 10, 2011. A former electrical engineer for Commonwealth Edison, he became the Oak Park Township Assessor for three consecutive terms after he retired, in addition to teaching an electric automobile class at Triton College in River Grove until the age of 80.
John H. Sutton, 72, of Elmwood Park, formerly of River Forest, died at home on Jan. 4, 2011. Born in Roanoke,Va., on May 29, 1938 to Howard and Emma Sutton, he grew up in Washington, D.C., moving to the Chicago area in the late 1970s.
Grace V. Kevil (nee Dewbray), 96, a lifelong resident of Oak Park, died on Jan. 1, 2011. Born in Oak Park on Nov. 25, 1914 to the late Samuel and Rose Mackey Dewbray, she attended Longfellow and Oak Park and River Forest High School.
Arthur Clarence Marshall, 94, of Oak Park, died on Jan. 5, 2010. Born on Feb. 24, 1916 in Chicago to Ephraim and Emilie Marshall, who emigrated from Germany at the turn of the century, he spent his summers as a teenager on his uncle's farm in Kiel, Wis.
