After three recent strong-arm robberies of pedestrians along the east edge of River Forest, a beefed-up police patrol was in the right place at the right time when a fourth victim was attacked Aug. 10 around 3:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Bonnie Brae.
Banging sounds around 6 a.m. coming from the mudroom in their home in the 100 block of Park Boulevard alerted River Forest residents, who found an unknown 30-year-old Chicago man in their house, Aug. 4.
River Forest burglars made off with high-end loot in incidents reported July 21 and July 23. While owners were on vacation, someone gained entry into a house in the 900 block of Bonnie Brae Place and removed two custom watches valued at more than $10,000.
A former North Chicago police officer, his son and an acquaintance will stand trial starting Oct. 21 for their involvement in the fatal shooting of a Chicago woman in a River Forest parking lot in 2011.
Police said a woman standing in an alley about to enter her apartment near Harrison Street and Lyman Avenue was attacked by a male and a female who knocked her to the ground around 10:20 p.m. on July 18.
Newspaper steel "honesty boxes" were discovered removed from spots around Oak Park about 4:30 a.m., July 7. A Sun-Times box disappeared from the 100 block of North Marion Street, and a Red Eye box and Hoy box were removed from the 700 block of South Austin Boulevard.
