Robert A. Young, Jr., 68, of River Forest died on July 16, 2011. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in Niles and received his Bachelor's degree from Loyola University in Chicago. Bob retired from IBM after 25 years and continued in his own business.
Emily Propoggio, 72, died at her home in Creal Springs, Illinois on July 10, 2011 where she had resided for 17 years. Previously, she had lived in Oak Park for 36 years. Mrs. Propoggio was born on Dec. 17, 1938 in Chicago to the late John and Emily Szalek.
Sanford Fonda Giles, 63, died of a heart attack Monday, June 27, 2011. He was the husband of Norma Medina; father; and brother of Carol (Bill) Parrillo. Memorial Mass was Friday, July 1, 2011 at Holy Name Cathedral.
Matthew John Rothrock, 24, of River Forest, died suddenly July 6. He was the son of Chris Strange and Douglas Rothrock; brother of Alison; grandson of Marilyn and the late John Strange, Joan and the late Donald Rothrock; nephew and cousin to many.
Gus Kostopulos treasured architecture, practicing it and appreciating it, and did so for the past half century. The former Oak Park village trustee was still working on a couple of projects at the age of 81, with no intention of calling it quits.
Donna M. Bush (nee Kalinauskas), 65, of River Forest, died on June 28, 2011. She was the wife of the late Gerald S., the sister of Evelyn (Bob) Szymanowski of Forest Park, and the aunt of many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her poodle, Nina.
Kim H. Tunnicliff, Ph.D., was killed early Thursday, June 16, in a head-on collision near Mansfield, Ohio. He was on his way back to his home in Wooster, Ohio, following a visit with his family in Oak Park.
Robert G. Sjostrom, a resident of Oak Park for nearly 30 years and a retired social worker at the Edward A. Hines Jr. V.A. Hospital, died Monday at Loyola University Hospital after a battle with cancer.
Jean Sullivan (nee Griffiths), 83, a longtime Oak Park resident died on June 19, 2011. And Oak Parker since 1940, when her family moved from Our Lady of Sorrows Parish on the West Side, she palled around with comedian Bob Newhart's sister, Mary Jo.
Harvey Gross, 65, a longtime Oak Park resident, died suddenly on June 10, 2011. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., he attended the University of Miami in Oxford, Ohio, where he earned a B.A. and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
