A Cicero man, believed to be connected to a string of copper thefts in Oak Park, was arrested Wednesday. According to Oak Park police summary reports, Henry W. Teska, 23, of the 5800 block of W. Roosevelt, was arrested for felony and misdemeanor theft and criminal damage to property for separate thefts that occurred at locations between the 1000 and 1100 blocks of Lyman.
Two more Oak Park women were victimized Tuesday night in what is becoming a string of violent robberies targeting women in the village. The Oak Park police believe the suspect in one of the attacks might be the same perpetrator of three robberies that occurred between March 30 and April 4.
Oak Park police have reported a string of incidents in which large air conditioning units have been targeted for their copper parts. Commander LaDon Reynolds said the department has received several reports of similar incidents within the last week.
A man suspected of stealing copper downspouts from two different Oak Park homes was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of felony theft. Tyree Gregory, 56, of the 1100 block of S. Homan Ave. in Chicago, was also wanted on two outstanding warrants from the DuPage County Sheriff's Department, for criminal trespass to property and for driving with a suspended license.
Lisa Dodge was returning home after a long day of traveling when she was confronted by a stranger outside her apartment building on the 200 block of N. Oak Park Ave. last week. She had noticed the man loitering around the entrance as her cab pulled up and she collected her belongings but didn't think much of it until the man walked up to her and said, "All I want is your money."
In an effort to track down the perpetrator in a series of three attacks on women in Oak Park, Lisa Dodge, a victim of the attacker, met with the Oak Park police on Sunday to help create a computer-generated composite sketch of the suspect. Police released the sketch this afternoon.
According to River Forest police reports, a 27-year-old Oak Park woman was repeatedly sexually assaulted by an unknown offender on April 2, in incidents that occurred at least partly in the village of River Forest.
