Rev. Kevin David O'Rourke, O.P., of the Dominican Central Province of St. Albert the Great, died peacefully at Rush Hospital in Chicago on March 28, 2012. He told everyone present in his room that he was "going home" that day. Born on March 3, 1927 in Park Ridge to William O'Rourke and Winifred Stanton O'Rourke, he was the youngest of seven siblings, all of whom preceded him in death.
George H. Klumpner, 87, a longtime Oak Park resident, died on March 16, 2012, following a fall. Born on June 8, 1924, he earned his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Chicago and his psychoanalytic training at the Institute for Psychoanalysis in Chicago.
Brendan Smith Heintz, 76, a longtime Oak Park resident, died on April 3, 2012 in Tampa, Fla. Born on Dec. 2, 1935, he was a Fenwick graduate and received his B.A. from Loras College and an M.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
Marie T. Wackrow (nee Woods), 86, a lifelong resident of Oak Park, died suddenly of a brain aneurysm on March 30, 2012 while on a trip touring New Orleans. Born on Aug. 29, 1925 in Chicago to the late Dennis and Mary (nee Devitt) Woods, she was a graduate of St. Catherine of Siena Grade School, Oak Park and River Forest High School and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from DePaul University in Chicago.
Walter J. Keys, 86, of DeKalb, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died peacefully on March 18, 2012 at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served in World War II and survived the battle of Iwo Jima.
Barbara J. Dierkes (nee Hickey), 84, of Forest Park died on Jan. 17, 2012. Mrs. Dierkes worked as a commercial and residential Realtor in Oak Park for 25 years. She became an insurance broker and, with her husband, Vince, started the V.J. Dierkes Insurance Co.
On Dec. 6, 1958, John Donald Trilik went to the Mayo Clinic and was diagnosed with atrophy of the optic nerve. He lost his vision. Later in life, he lost his hearing, as well. On March 15, 2012, Mr. Trilik, 82, died at home in Oak Park.
Robert W. Eder, 92, formerly of Oak Park, died on March 18, 2012. Born in Chicago on Dec. 2, 1919 to the late John W. and Emma Robl Eder, he was educated at Holy Cross Seminary in Notre Dame, Ind., and St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein before deciding to devote his life and express his love of God as a member of the laity.
Edna Dedolph Sjostrom, 94, of Oak Park, died on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Bethesda Home and Retirement Center. She had suffered for the past several years from cardiac and respiratory conditions but she retained her sense of humor and her interest in her children and grandchildren to her last days.
