William J. Conroy, 90, of Oak Park died on June 12 after a long illness. Born in Chicago on July 5, 1921, he began his musical career early in life, taking private lessons at the Chicago Conservatory of Music. He performed for several years as a tenor with the St. Louis Municipal Opera and the Chicago Opera and toured in concert with the Master Singers at major universities.
Dana A. Stawski (nee Bogdana Ann Sielski), 87, a longtime resident of Oak Park, died surrounded by her family on June 10, 2012. Born on Jan. 19, 1925 in Buffalo, N.Y., she was formerly married to Stanley O. Stawski with whom she co-founded Stawski Distributing Company.
Peter J. Hollenbach, 68, former River Forest resident, died on June 16, 2012. Mr. Hollenbach is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his children, Kathy (Giles) Lundberg, Dan (Tracy), Rebecca, and Miriam; his five grandchildren; his sister, Ginny Hague; and his many friends.
Catherine Krickl (nee McGarr), 87, died at home of pancreatic cancer with her family beside her on May 20, 2012. A longtime Oak Park resident and Ascension parishioner, she was very supportive of Seguin Services in Cicero, where her son, Joe, has received assistance for the past 47 years.
Ralph E. Balgemann, 96, died on May 17, 2012. Born on September 12, 1915, he graduated from St. John Northwestern Military Academy in Lake Geneva, Wis., and studied at Northwestern University in Evanston.
Mary Kay Lynch, a longtime Oak Park resident, died in her home on May 25, 2012. She was a member of St. Catherine-St. Lucy Parish for more than a half-century and a volunteer for a number of years with the Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Society and the Nineteenth Century Charitable Association.
Florence K. Hennessey, 94, of Oak Park, died on June 1, 2012. Born in Chicago to Elsie and Edward Kelly, she attended St. Xavier High School and College, and received a B.A. in music and history in 1939.
Bernarr Sumner Wixon, 100, formerly of Westchester and Riverside, died on May 29, 2012. A retired buyer for Sears Roebuck & Co., he was a member of the Riverside Township Lions, the Riverside Chapter Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Riverside Dance Club.
