Oak Park police issued a warning to neighbors and beefed up patrols near Rehm Park after a man attempted to grab the backpack of a 12-year-old male student walking home from school at 3:45 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of S. East Ave.

The family of a Chicago woman who was killed in River Forest in July is suing the men arrested for her murder, looking for money to help raise her orphaned child. Earlier this summer, Devin Bickham Sr., 39, allegedly killed his 29-year-old girlfriend Chervon Alexander at Priory Park, near Harlem and Division.
Police caught five burglars stealing power tools from a parked car during a routine early-morning police patrol in the 1100 block of Lyman on Sept. 23. The men were also linked to a string of other burglaries in the neighborhood and incidents in River Forest and Cicero, said Commander LaDon Reynolds of the Oak Park Police Department.
Elijah Osagboro, 17, of the 100 block of South Austin Boulevard, was arrested Friday after allegedly threatening and robbing his ex-girlfriend on her way to school. According to police Osagboro pushed the 17-year-old Oak Park girl against a garage in an alley behind the 100 block of South Elmwood Avenue, held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her Friday morning at about 8 a.m.
Oak Park and River Forest High School student Pawel Borowski-Beszta was re-indicted Friday by a Cook County grand jury, which charged him with four counts of theft in addition to the drug and weapons charges previously leveled against him for allegedly running a drug sales operation out of an Oak Park apartment.

Seven laptop computers disappeared from the Beye School library, 230 N. Cuyler Ave., over the summer, police reported Monday. The white, Apple Macbook computers were said to have been removed sometime after July 7, said Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds of the Oak Park police department.
